PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — An investor and shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has called on Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice to intervene in a dispute involving the company’s chairman, Yamada Taihei, citing serious allegations of financial misconduct and breaches of trust.

In letters submitted to Cambodian officials, the investor claims that Yamada, a Japanese national and chairman of the board, engaged in fraudulent business practices that caused substantial financial losses. According to the letters, Yamada allegedly inflated real estate purchase prices in Cambodia, with preliminary findings suggesting that approximately $4 million may have been misappropriated for personal gain and that of associates.

The investor also accuses Yamada of orchestrating fictitious business transactions, including loans totaling over $7 million, and of diverting large sums of cash through shell companies linked to himself and alleged accomplices. Some of the funds are reported to have been transferred to an overseas account under the name of Yamada’s wife, Ye Jun.

Further claims suggest that Yamada set up shell companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Cambodia using nominees while maintaining direct control over associated bank accounts and financial transactions.

Cambodian prosecutors have reportedly filed charges in at least two criminal cases involving Yamada and other individuals, and court orders have frozen related assets and bank accounts. The letters also indicate that investigations are ongoing in multiple jurisdictions—including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States—probing allegations of embezzlement, money laundering, document forgery, and breach of trust.

The investor urges Cambodian authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and expresses concern that interference could allow suspects to evade justice, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.

YY Capital Partners and Yamada Taihei have not issued any public statement regarding the allegations, and the matter remains under active investigation.
